"Steven Spielberg was honoured with a Life Achievement
Award by the Directors Guild of America yesterday. Today italian newspaper
"Corriere della Sera" runs a story about it. The interesting part is the
following (translated from italian): Q:"Your wife says that in your family
you talk about movies from early morning. What do you tell your children
when you go to the movies with them?" Spielberg: "Actually, I have to
answer to the same question all the time:'Dad, when are you going to film
a new Indiana Jones movie?' But tonight I want to make a promise: Indiana
Jones is coming back soon"

Congrats to Harrison Ford for winning
Favorite Overall Favorite Actor at the People's Choice Awards. Here is his
acceptance speech: "Its an honor to be included in this company and I just
parenthetically wanted to say that I made love to the two women adam
didn't make love to*. It's a great honor and privilege to be here. You all
make it possible for people to vote for the people choice awards, for us
to do a really incredible job. We have a wonderful opportunity in
the work that we do. It gives up great pleasure to feel that we are
serving you. Thank you" --*Note: Harrison was joking about Adam Sandlers
speech when he said he had sex with 6000 women.

Nielson Tv
ratings are out and the AFI show was ranked at #49. I'm not surprised at
this ranking as it was up against one of the top shows on Tv-Dateline.
Also what did not help the AFI show was the newspaper and internet
reviews. They all rated the show as being one of the worst ones ever put
out by AFI. Note: These reviews were not critical of Harrison, in fact
most of them were in agreement that he deserved a better show. Also, the
AFI Shows do not fair well in ratings. Harrison's did better then previous
ones.
Premiere Magazines hollywood power list is now out and
online. Harrison has dropped significantly from last year. He was #20 last
year and at #37 this year. Here is the complete article-"Rank Last
Year: 20. Job Title: Crash Survivor. Status Report: Reteaming with
Sabrina?s Sydney Pollack yielded unlovable Random Hearts. Teamed with
Michelle Pfeiffer in Robert Zemeckis?s summer ghost thriller What Lies
Beneath. Auditioned top five agencies, then went with rising UTA. Almost
took the indie plunge and cut price for Steven Soderbergh?s noirish
Traffic at Fox Searchlight, then bailed. Awaiting rewrites on Jack Ryan
sequel. Strength: A solid action hero. Weakness: A dull romantic lead.
Yes, It?s True: Will never work with Pollack again."
June
People Magazine (July 10th edition)-"It was the staff, not
the clientele, who were aglow at the Gentleman's Quarters in Denver on
June 19 after Harrison Ford popped in for a massage and left a $100 tip
for therapist Kim Tomlinson after a one-hour complimentary session (which
usually costs $60). Ford, who was in town the day after his private plane
mishap in Lincoln, Neb., dazzled everyone at the salon with his humor,
posed for pictures and signed autographs. How did Ford wind up there?
Well, a Gentleman's Quarters client, attorney John McNamara, spotted the
star across the street eating lunch. McNamara later wandered over
barefoot, wearing a bathrobe, to offer a gift of the stress-busting
session. Ford accepted. Once the actor was on the massage table, he had
only one question for Tomlinson: "Who was the guy in the
bathrobe?"
"Stars learn the phrase 'Never say never'". In
this article Josh Chetwynd and Andy Seiler discuss hit movies from the
80's & 90's and how the stars who were in them are going to try and
revive the magic. Suprisingly, the editors were nice to Harrison. "Many of
the stars vowed they'd never go back. But now, with the possible exception
of Ford, their signature characters are their best bet for a career boost"
Here are the stars they mentioned as trying to revive that good ole magic
"Harrison Ford is waiting for a script from M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth
Sense) for a fourth Indiana Jones. Sharon Stone is ready to do Basic
Instinct 2. Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning for a third Terminator.
Sylvester Stallone is "in talks" for Rocky 6. Paul Hogan is shooting a
third "Crocodile" Dundee. And Under Siege 3 is being developed for Steven
Seagal."
John Woo to direct a movie starring
Harrison?!?!?-Garth Franklin who runs the fantastic Dark Horizons movie
site ran a tiny exerpt of an interview with director John Woo
(Mission Impossible 2) in which Mr. Woo made the statement "I am booked
out for a quite long time. After WINDTALKERS I'll shoot KING'S MEN, a
comedy [a new title for "KINGS RANSOM" possibly?]. After this I'll make a
movie with Harrsion Ford and John Travolta [!!!]" I'm not going to get all
excited about this one people. Like John W. said "I am booked out for a
quite long time" and he goes on to mention two other movies he is already
committed to. Since he has two movies already planned, we're talking at
least two to three years at the most in which Mr. Woo is tied up.
::sigh::: yet more rumors of Harrison movies and all everyone really wants
to know is what his next movie is definately going to
be.
Harrison Ford makes emergency landing in Lincoln,
Neb.-"LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Harrison Ford had to make an emergency landing
after the plane he was piloting encountered wind shear. The actor was at
the helm of the six-passenger Beach Bonanza when it touched down at
Lincoln Municipal Airport on Sunday night. Ford and an unidentified
passenger were not injured. According to the Federal Aviation
Administration, the craft was bound for Lincoln from Fort Wayne, Ind.,
when Ford encountered shifting in winds. "He reported wind shear as he was
coming in for a landing and clipped the runway," said Elizabeth Isham Cory
with FAA public affairs. She said the landing "sustained damage to the
plane, at least to the wing tips." Ford was to stay in Lincoln on Sunday
night, but couldn't immediately be reached for comment. Both the FAA and
the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the
accident.
Indiana Jones voted best action film series.
According to the Daily Southdown, a Chicago based newspaper, The Indiana
Jones Trilogy was voted the best action film series of all time. The film
series, which began in 1981 with "Raiders of the Lost Ark," follows Dr.
Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr. on his exploits as an archaeologist and expert
on the occult. That first film, an Oscar nominee for best picture and a
winner in four other categories, pitted Jones against the Nazis in their
hunt for the title "Ark." It was followed by "Indiana Jones and the Temple
of Doom" in 1984 and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" in 1989. But the
story may not be over. Although Spielberg and Lucas are both involved in
separate large-scale projects, rumors persist that a fourth "Indiana
Jones" film could be in the picture soon. "Indiana Jones" fought off tough
competition from the long-running spy series featuring British agent James
Bond. Each film received the same number of first-place votes, but
"Indiana Jones" got more total points based on second- and third-place
votes. Also in the running were "Mission: Impossible," no doubt helped
along by the current hype and box-office juggernaut status of the second
installment; and "Star Wars," another series that featured Ford in a
principal role. Especially impressive about "Indiana Jones'" victory is
the fact that all its major contenders are currently in the public psyche
through recent theatrical or video releases. Without a major theatrical
release in more than 10 years, "Indiana Jones" has apparently withstood
the test of time. Some readers who explained their voting said they were
guided in making their choices by the consistency of the films themselves;
others said they were influenced by the stellar performances of the lead
actors. Voters ranged in age from 11 to 81

Harrison to be
at MacWorld Conference & Expo on July 19th. In an article I found at

According to Ridley Scott "He's a
replicant," Mr. Scott is referring to Harrison's character Deckard
from the Sci-Fi classic Blade Runner. Mr. Scott also refers to Blade
Runner as "one of my best films" Here is the entire article that ran in
internet news site Online Mirror. "HARRISON A MUTANT-A MYSTERY which has
puzzled fans of sci-fi films for nearly 20 years has finally been solved.
Director Ridley Scott has revealed that Deckard, the hard-boiled policeman
played by Harrison Ford in Blade Runner, was genetically engineered.
"He's a replicant," he tells a Channel 4 docu-mentary to be screened on
July 15. Internet chat sites and film and sci-fi magazines have been
arguing for years about the significance of the cult movie's imagery and
whether Ford's character was human or not. The 1982 film was left
deliberately ambiguous but a Director's Cut edition released nearly 10
years ago hinted that replicant hunter Deckard was actually chasing down
his own kind. Scott, director of current hit Gladiator, says: "It's one of
my best films."
Air Force One's record for an R rated film's
opening weekend box-office was broken this past weekend by the movie Scary
Movie. According to the numbers at Box Office Report, Scary Movie took in
$42.5 million dollars (opening in 2,912 screens). Air Force One held the
record for three years. BTW: Air Force One's opening weekend generated
$37.1 million (opening in 2,919 screens). Scary Movie is a spoof of
various thriller/horror movies and has received much coverage due to the
explicit content.

So you want to know
what Harrison's bankability is? Well, according to the Ulmer Scale-it is
pretty good. In 1997 Harrison's was rated 96/100, he got the same score in
1998, in 1999 he was rated 97/100 and for this year he is rated 88/100.
Now, I know my site visitors and you are asking "What is the Ulmer Scale?"
Well....."The Ulmer Scale is the film industry's premier series of
powerbases for tracking, measuring and ranking the star power of 1,800
actors and directors worldwide. The Scale uses a 100-point ranking system
to measure bankability, the key component of star power. Bankability is
the degree to which an actor or director's name alone can raise 100%
financing up-front for a film. Often it is the most critical factor in
determining whether an actor or director is hired for a project. The Ulmer
Scale tracks it exclusively for all three film budget levels: art house,
mid-range and studio-level features. The Ulmer Scale also tracks other
critical factors affecting the rise or fall of a star's career. These
include his or her willingness to travel and promote, career management,
professionalism, acting talent and acting range"
August
Premiere magazines section "News your not supposed to
know", there is mention that not only did Paramount spend $2.5
million dollars to re-write the Sum of all fears script to suit Harrison,
but as everyone knows, Harrison has decided to move on from the Jack Ryan
Franchise. Before reading their article, I want to bring up what Harrison
said recently about the Jack Ryan franchise. I was re-watching some WLB
premiere video coverage from this year and on Access Hollywood's
segment, Harrison said that the deal with Sum of all Fears was a
mutual agreement with all involved and everyone is happy about it. "DON'T
KNOW JACK: After defining the character of Jack Ryan in two of TOM
CLANCY's spy thrillers, HARRISON FORD told Paramount's SHERRY LANSING to
hire another actor for Clancy's The Sum of All Fears. Why? After Paramount
spent $2.5 million on script rewrites to tailor the role to suit Ford, the
screenplay still didn't pass muster with the star. Lansing hired BEN
AFFLECK to replace Ford, who inherited the part from ALEC BALDWIN.
Luckily, Ford has another franchise to fall back on: GEORGE LUCAS and
STEVEN SPIELBERG have agreed to produce and direct the fourth installment
of Indiana Jones, with The Sixth Sense's M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN set to start
writing the script in early 2001"

to be at the 2001 Air & Space auction dinner for kids-"The Seattle
Times- Flight plan: Here's a scoop: Indiana Jones, aka Harrison Ford, will
fly -- literally - into town for the 2001 Air & Space auction dinner
for kids. Ford, an aviation enthusiast, will speak at the July 21 gala at
the Museum of Flight in Tukwila. Seattle business exec John Nordstrom can
take credit for enlisting Ford, whom he sees in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Ford is
such a draw that they'll probably have to have double-decker banquet
tables. Auction chairman Ted Pappas says Ford and Nordstrom plan to fly
their deHaviland Beavers from Jackson Hole, where Harrison lives, to
Boeing Field. Ford will have his helicopter take off and film the
side-by-side journey. Then, on arrival at Boeing Field, they'll taxi to
the Museum of Flight ramp. Just don't expect Indy to leap from the plane
while it's still taxiing."

The News-Gazette "By PAUL WOOD-Published Online September
23, 2000-Copyright 2000 The News-Gazette. CHAMPAIGN ? Harrison Ford's
whirlwind tour of Champaign on Thursday did not include the Beckman Center
or the Assembly Hall or Krannert or even Morrow Plots, where corn
continues to grow in the nation's oldest experimental agricultural
station. The museums? Nope. Our new intermodal transportation center?
Nope. That big hole that's supposed to keep the Boneyard from overflowing?
Nope. Hooters? Yep. The veteran actor, 58, had one hour in Champaign while
his helicopter was refueled at Willard Airport, and he spent it refueling
his tummy and signing autographs at the historic home of skimpy outfits on
south Neil Street. "He was real normal," said waitress Lauren Glad, 20, a
University of Illinois senior. "He didn't make a big deal of himself."
Glad was curious about why Mr. Big Shot Hollywood Actor was hanging out in
Champaign. "I'm here to see you, Lauren," Ford told her, she said. The
star of "Star Wars," the Indiana Jones movies, and, most recently, "What
Lies Beneath," had a barbecue sandwich. He was with a male friend, who had
a western burger, sources tell The News-Gazette. He tipped $10 on an $18
check. Then he signed Polaroids taken with each of the waitresses and
autographed hats and footballs, said Lillian Hernandez, 30, of Danville.
By 2 p.m., he was gone, off to New York, she said. Michelle Berry,
Flightstar customer service supervisor, verified that Ford, a veteran
pilot, stopped to refuel his Bell Helicopter at Willard Airport. But he
declined an offer of lunch at the airport restaurant, borrowed a
flightstar car, and asked for directions to the nearest restaurant.
Champaign Mayor Jerry Schweighart said Friday that the city would probably
not commemorate the visit, as is the custom with celebrity visits. "I
doubt we'll have an official proclamation," he said, or offer him the keys
to the city in absentia. "I do not have an official position on Harrison
Ford." Ford was unavailable for comment on how he liked the
barbecue."
Harrison participation in Celebrity PSA on
Disability. WASHINGTON, June 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The National
Organization on Disability (N.O.D.) will launch a new public service
announcement, which combats negative stereotypes of people with
disabilities, during the U.S. Department of Labor's "National Summit on
the 21st Century Workforce" on June 20. The PSA features a group of well
known celebrities with and without disabilities: Angela Bassett, Harrison
Ford, Wyclef Jean, Camryn Manheim, Christopher Reeve, John Stewart and
Stevie Wonder. They discuss both something they cannot do-a different
thing for each person-and far more importantly, what they can do. "We're
grateful to these talented celebrities and generous sponsors for their
help in projecting our message nationally," said N.O.D. President Alan A.
Reich. "I hope that when people see this PSA, it gives them pause to
think, and to be increasingly open-minded." The N.O.D. PSA can be viewed
as of June 20 from a link on N.O.D.'s Web site

documentary "Flight Line: The Helicopters of Vietnam" was held Oct. 29th
in Fort Worth Texas. The premiere was part of the organizers of the

documentary is scheduled to be broadcast locally (in Texas) on Nov

Parade magazine (10/29 issue): In the PARADE insert of
today's newspaper, Walter Scott's Personality Parade there is the
following:
Q. I read that Harrison Ford's eldest son did some acting
but decided to become a chef instead. What is he doing now?--Mary Anne
Bennett, Oklahoma City, Okla.
A. Ben Ford, 33, opened his own restaurant in Beverly
Hills in August. Named Chadwick (for Alan Chadwick, the godfather of
organic gardening), it reflects his belief in using fresh, locally grown
ingredients. "I retired from acting at age 7 because I wasn't good at it,"
Ben tells us. "But I was good at cooking, and at 12 I was preparing
holiday meals for the family." Ben and his brother, Willard, 31, a
teacher, are the products of Harrison Ford's marriage to Mary Marquardt.
The actor once told PARADE he was an "inadequate" husband and father the
first time around, but Ben says that his dad has always been supportive,
even investing in Chadwick. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are about to
produce a grandchild for Ford.
In a recent interview
discussing the difficulty of older actresses getting "meaty" roles in
hollywood, Oscar nominated actress Anne Archer discussed working with
Harrison "Harrison Ford proved great to act with -- and demanding. "He is
a wonderful to work with, a very real and down-to-earth person. He knows
what works for him on the big screen and he has a huge career and he
demands productions of a certain standard. Anyone in a position of power
has to do that.''

Harrison is
the Fashion Pick of the Week in the new US magazine (Bette Midler is on
the cover). There are some really funny remarks about him from the panel
of judges. Also, there is a small article in the new People coming out
about the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and they show a picture of heads of
some of the stars featured and Harrison is one of them.
In
her article "With changing times, changing roles", Ellen Baskin discusses
the role of women politicians in motion pictures. Two of Harrison's
movies, Random Hearts and Air Force One, are discussed. "The action
thriller "Air Force One" (1997) may be formulaic in many ways, but it
breaks the mold in featuring Glenn Close as tough-as-nails Vice President
Kathryn Bennett, who hardly breaks a sweat in her white silk blouse while
dealing with terrorists who are holding chief executive Harrison Ford
hostage on the presidential aircraft. That silk blouse, in fact, factors
into one of the film's very few references to her sex, when lead terrorist
Gary Oldman--who also co-stars as a bad guy in "The Contender"--tries to
bait her with provocative questions about what she's wearing. In last
year's "Random Hearts," Kristin Scott Thomas plays Congresswoman Kay
Chandler, a strait-laced Republican (we know this because she wears
pearls, comes from a patrician background and says she's a Republican, not
because we ever see her at work). Her reelection campaign is derailed by
her relationship with Harrison Ford, a policeman trying to find out about
his dead wife's affair with Scott Thomas' dead husband (both died in a
plane crash), which results in the two having their own ill-starred
affair"
Wanna stroke Harrison's chin in Times Square? Here's
how: "On the ninth floor of the 42nd Street attraction, the stars - or at
least their wax dopplegangers - are out in force for a faux cocktail bash
that is the museum's first stop. Madame Tussaud's, the venerable house of
wax that brings a collection of nearly 200 replicant celebrities to a new
$50 million Times Square home this week"
"The November issue
of Movieline Magazine has an article called 'The Jet Set' about
celebrities and their planes. There is a small picture of Harrison Ford on
page 46, also a small picture of a de Havillland Beaver. The article
mentions that Mr. Ford's latest acquisition is a Bell 206 Jet Ranger
helicopter that sells for $1,500,000.

"If you thought you saw someone who looked an awful lot
like actor Harrison Ford in Wichita last week, chances are good it was
him. Ford's publicist, Patricia McQueeney, reports that the movie star was
in the Air Capital for one week to attend flight school. The star of hit
flicks such as "Star Wars," "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Fugitive"
stayed at the Marriott while in town, McQueeney said. Ford is notorious
for his love of adventurous flying. He owns several planes and
helicopters, according to an interview with Mr. Showbiz. "I like (landing
on) little grass strips, little planes, helicopters. I like flying in the
mountains. I like challenging kinds of conditions," he told interviewer
Jane Wollman Rusoff. McQueeney said Ford has visited Wichita several times
before for flight training"
Photographer Peggy Sirota has a

"November 13, 2000 Liz Smith's column in
Newsday NY-Not so long ago I was at a party in Durham, Conn. Somebody told
me that Melissa Mathison and hubby Harrison Ford had bought a house in
Durham, and later someone else showed me the real estate flyer on the
sale, I printed an item about their buying a house in Northeastern
Connecticut, but didn't name the town. Melissa telephone in a friendly way
several days later to say they hadn't bought the house. When I offered to
correct the item, she said she'd rather I didn't. So I didn't. Four days
later, her movie star husband called and, in a rather irritated tones,
demanded a retraction. Someone in this office told him of his wife's call
and asked, "Don't you two talk to each other?" In the wake of their
separation, I guess we have the answer."
Harrison was at the
NY screening of the new Jim Carrey movie How the Grinch stole Christmas
last night. "The stars were out yesterday at a New York screening of Dr.
Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Among the notables at the event,
which benefited the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Stem Cell
Transplant Research Fund, were current PEOPLE coverboy Harrison Ford, who

E! Online-Actor and wife of
17 years, Melissa Mathison, separate; say they want to work things out-by
Marcus Erric. Some family trouble for Harrison Ford. Moviedom's top action
hero and his wife of 17 years, screenwriter Melissa Mathison, have
separated, they announced Tuesday. "We have been living apart for the past
month," Ford, 58, and Mathison, 49, say in a brief statement. "We
sincerely hope that we can work out our differences. "We would appreciate
it if the media and the public would respect this as a very painful time
for both of us and consider this a private matter henceforth." The
statement comes just days after the National Enquirer published a photo of
the erstwhile Han Solo chatting it up with Lara Flynn Boyle over champagne
in a New York club. In its typically breathless style, the tab insinuated
the two were romantically involved. (The 30-year-old Practice star ended a
yearlong fling with Jack Nicholson two months ago and has since been
linked to Bruce Willis.) Ford's agent, Patricia McQueeney, says she
released the statement to discount the Enquirer story. She says Ford and
Mathison had separated long before the photo appeared and the story did
not contribute to their marital woes. The couple met in 1979 on the set of
Apocalypse Now, in which Ford had a minor role. Later that year, Ford
divorced his wife and college sweetheart, Mary Marquardt, after 15 years
of marriage and two sons, both now adults. Ford and Mathison, who's best
known for scripting E.T., married in 1983 and have two children, Malcolm
and Georgia.

Britain to Knight Steven Spielberg-"(AP) - Steven
Spielberg is to be knighted by Great Britain, an honor conferred on those
who have made an important contribution to relations with the country.
``The award of an honorary knighthood recognizes Steven Spielberg's
extraordinary contribution to the entertainment industry and the British
film industry over the last 25 years,'' the British Embassy said Thursday.
The director will receive the honor from ambassador Sir Christopher Meyer
on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II (news - web sites) at a Jan. 29 ceremony
in Washington. Spielberg's credits include ``Saving Private Ryan,''
``Schindler's List,'' ``Jaws'' and ``E.T. The Extraterrestrial.''
Spielberg was on vacation Thursday and couldn't be reached, but his
spokesman at DreamWorks SKG said he was honored. ``He was enormously
pleased and really humbled by this. He has always had such wonderful
feelings for the UK and the British film industry,'' Spielberg publicist
Marvin Levy said. Americans admitted to membership of British Orders of
