View Full Version : does the film PRESUMED INNOCENT drag on with...
its steamy sex scenes? is there quite alot of hanky panky's going ons in this film - i hate films that drag on...is the film any good?
It IS a good movie, filled with good performances. I've never thought it dragged but to each his/her own.
BTW, the book it's based on, by the same name is excellent.

Great movie.
Great book.
See it. Read it. Believe it.
Presumed Innocent is the only, I mean ONLY Ford film that I just totally disliked. I have never been able to finish the VHS that I purchased a few years ago. I have seen the entire movie, but for some reason, when I started my collection of Ford films, that one just did not fit. I didnt like the role he played, I couldnt stand the female actresses (I thought they were all horrible) and Harrison's HAIRDO, and I do mean HAIRDO was awful. He looked like Ceasar in a time warp. NO, Didnt like that one.

About his hair.
Harrison wanted to play the caracter like someone who is not attractive.
Who walks around in a bad suit.
Just a man who is a victim of a woman who will do anything to reach her goal.
I found the movie difficult on first viewing, and gave it up, but I don't like courtroom dramas. I gave it another try and liked it very much. I can't forget that scene where she's just died, and he's brooding and remembering her. Very powerful, very visual, and he doesn't say a word, just suffers. I liked the scenes with his boss man too. But this a cold movie, and becomes chilling.
Sorry Hammer 42 but I don't think that in presumed innocent Harrsion' s character is a victim of a woman tha will do anything to reach her goal.
First of all in this maschilist world, often, too often women don't have chance to do carrier if they don' t have sex with a man boss.
Second, the character of Harrison in that film doesn't seem upset , or victim to follow the compromise to go in bed with her.

They ran this movie last night and I taped it. I saw it when it first appeared at the movies and I usually love these kind of films- mystery/thrillers- tautly written dramas with a courtroom setting.ANd I do remember enjoying it at the movies. But this time around I wasn't so thrilled about the movie- first of all, once the 'secret's' out as to who the murder(ess) is, it doesn't play again all that well. Also this is one of two films where I don't really have much empathy/appreciation of H's character.(the other was Mosquito Coast where I had NO emotional draw to the character at all)As far as Rusty, I don't really like cheaters; and there didn't seem to be much that made him likable after I saw him go after that...hussy. His only redeeming feature was he wasn't going to sell out his (traitorous) boss- but his misplaced trust did not make him all that redeemable person for me.
I thought the hair made him cute somehow. (well one thing for sure, there aint NO movie where I don't find him extremely lusciously attractive!!!)
Of course, H's less than likeable character didn't stop me from taping the movie and I'll probably rewatch a FEW selected scenes. but the lady above who said the love scenes were dragged out...ah..well I dont' want to provoke a dispute, but imho - love scenes with Harrison are NEVER LONG ENOUGH...at least for me. In fact some of his movies I rewatch ONLY for the love scenes, which leads me to wonder what happens when part of a tape runs threadbare. Such as the scene at the cabin in Random Hearts, which is starting to get a little..........fuzzy on my tv.

Get a DVD player dear and replace all the tapes with discs that won't wear out. You've got him forever then! You don't have to get them all at once, but can often pick them up these days when they aren't new as special offers, three for two etc.
And another plus is that quite often a DVD has deleted scenes, interviews and other special bits. But it really makes me mad when I pay out top whack for the latest film, only to find that there are NO extras at all, the mean b*st*rds! Don't the studios make enough profit out of us?
And I agree about the scene in the cabin, my typing's starting to go a little shaky at the thought.....

i really love the final scene..the acting by mr. ford and miss bedelia is excellant there..how she speaks in the 3rd person..."the destroyer is destoyed..."great line..actually i thought the characters were more accessabile in the film, than the book...i mean you see his conflict, and regrets..and carolyn(greta scacchi) has more humanity in regards to the little boy ,whose mum she wants to put on trial for child abuse,endangerment...i like scott turow's writing, but at times he seems more interested in the erotic scenes than the whole red herrings, unless that is part of the game in his narrative..perhaps.listening to the soundtrack by john willaims as i type...

OMG - I do the same thing!!!!!!!!! LOL!! I just watched Presumed Innocent for the first time about 2 nights ago. I have to say that I loved the film. It kept my attention the whole way throughout. And I was SO happy that it told who the murderer was. Great movie! Oh, and the sex scenes...there really was only one real sex scene I think, and I agree with quinnsbeachbaby, it did not drag on, I would have been happier with more of it. LOL!
