Where you from in Louisiana? My best friend in college hails from a small town called Vacherie - and she now lives in Shreveport. Last year when we were in Dallas visiting my husband's family, we drove over to see her and our visit extended (spur-of-the-moment) down to New Orleans for a couple of really fun days and nights. On our way back to Texas, we stopped and tarried in Lake Charles to do a little "crabbing." I thought it was a hoot to find roadside baitshops selling "rotten meat" just for crabbing. :p

Did I forget to add that it was 92 degrees with the humidity about 120???! :eek:! My husband grew up in that kind of heat - but I was raised in the northwest and my blood's a lot thicker than his! :p

Vacherie's a cool little Frenchy town - those kind are the best. I got family in a tiny little town called Simmesport. I'm from Baton Rouge which has a good mix of Frenchy and north Louisiana folks.
