JUMPY ON SECURITY ISSUES -

Security is tight around Indiana Jones 4 and the moviemakes are suffering the dilemma of keeping the fun a secret while not infringing on people's right to use a camera in public areas. The issue is mentioned in a video report from WTNH today: Click here to see the report.

We also have the latest batch of hi-res pictures in; click on image below to go to the relevant section of HFW Gallery 1. Big thanks to Hayley at CalistaOnline!!

We know, wrong movie, but we just got this urge for Steppenwolf --

True to habit we just couldn't help ourselves -- based on footage from the WTNH news report mentioned above we made this. PS. Yank up the speakers and click the Play button below. (Unfortunately John W. was busy today, so we had to make do with someone further down our soundtrack options list )

PS. This is an example of 'physical acting' and not stunt work; definition and performance courtesy Harrison Ford.

UPDATE

Just got a couple of pics in from Fréderic China: Messrs. Spielberg and Ford on a rig. (The bigger ones are in HFW Gallery 1)

The net is already abuzz with acute and partly nasty ageism - most of it no doubt written by people who didn't even exist waaaay back in 1981 - people who take the freedom to push their extreme predjudice and disdain of background research down everybody's throat just to boost a personal Google egoboo ranking.

In our opinion the professor looks fine and just right. A basic lookup in an Indy bio will tell that he is 58 years old in the timeframe of the movie (1957). [See the Wikipedia entry on Indiana Jones here,]

We've seen 'em look far worse at any age than Harrison - and our professors never kicked a**. Did yours, or for that matter: do you?

FIRST DAY OF NEW HAVEN SHOOTING; UPDATED SHOOTING SCHEDULE

Period car on street; needing a breather

Attention to detail: extra in period plumber wear
Two shoots took place simultaneously in New Haven today: the first was Harrison's stunt double riding the backseat of a motorcycle racing on the street; the second was Harrison himself shooting a classroom scene out of the public eye at the William L. Harkness Hall.

Producer Frank Marshall and exec producer Kathleen Kennedy held a press conference on Wednesday night and they could tell that Yale U will not be featured as Yale, but as the fictional Marshall College.

Frank Marshall also said that after cast & crew have finished in New Haven (on July 7), they'll be off to Hawaii and then head back to L.A.

This means that shooting in Hawaii is pushed ahead and that shooting (if any) in Veracruz, Mexico is postponed. (We've reported earlier that Hawaii would be shooting in August and that Veracruz might see Jones action by the second week of July)

PREPS & CELEBRATIONS IN NEW HAVEN

New Haven is buzzing with Jones activity. Fans, extras, and crew gather in town, Crew trailers have arrived; sets are being made ready and there's no lack of fedoraed guys around - neither live nor dummy.

Yesterday night the town celebrated the movie, the crew and Indy himself with the Indiana Jones and the Temple Street Festival, an outdoor event free for all - which included the screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark on the town Green.

HFW member Fréderic China (a.k.a angelseyth) is presently in town and he has snapped a number of photos for you to enjoy. You can see them here and here.

Local TV station WTNH has also had some coverage and we'd be surprised if they didn't follow presedence in the upcoming days. Click the links below to see the relevant news clips so far in separate popups: Oh, and Fredéric has become a TV name too

UPDATED INDIANA JONES 4 NEW HAVEN LOCATIONS
NEW SCENE UNDER CREATION

More details on the upcoming shooting in New Haven are published today in the New Haven Register.

The paper says that plans for filming on Thursday June 28 and the following days includes a shoot inside the William L. Harkness Hall, Yale Law School and a number of streets around the Yale Old Campus. Click here to see a map of downtown New Haven with the details plotted in.

The Register also says that the last part of the New Haven shooting schedule will be filled with something new and that the moviemakers are creating a new scene - which is yet unconfirmed. A planned chase scene on a Yale practice field (Derby Avenue - see map here) west of the town center has been scrapped.

There are chances there will be shooting at the First Congregational Church. Barbara J. Lamb, director of New Haven's Office of Cultural Affairs said she had referred the "Indiana Jones" film crew to the church when they asked if she knew of any quaint white churches in the area. Paramount Pictures representative Abby Eon said in a letter to the city that the producers are considering using the exterior of the historic church on the Green, "with actors entering and exiting the church."

See a (small) picture of the church and read about its history here.

INDY 4 SHOOTING ON HAWAII BIG ISLAND IN AUGUST
DEMING SET PICS

"Along the Hamakua Coast" by Harry Wishard. Oil on canvas
Scenery along Hamakua Coast

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported on Thursday (June 21) that location shooting for Indiana Jones 4 will take place along Big Island's Hamakua coast for three weeks in August. Lucasfilm has opened a production office in Hilo but there's yet no word on a local casting call or local production hires. (Click here to see a map of Hawai'i Big Island).

Deb Wuliger, a publicist for the Indiana Jones project (dubbed Project X ), says that filming started in Deming, New Mexico on Monday [June 18] and that part of the town has been decked out to resemble Morocco during World War II.

The secrecy security on the project is even tighter than usual, and Wuliger comments:

"The attempt is to preserve the integrity of the story and to preserve the experience with the audience. It really is. We're going through a period of time where information travels so fast and people put things together so quickly that before a movie can be released, people are reading about it. ... The thing about the Internet is that when there are spoilers, at least they announce it, so people can choose how to look. But the (mainstream media), that's not how they do news. ... The problem is that there's no longer any such thing as a 'local story.' People piece them all together and it's a different world and we're trying to learn how to deal with that."

Alas curiosity has got the better of us; we thus remain a bit sceptical on the "Morocco during WWII" reference since this Deming set photo shot on June 16 shows a number of fifties vehicles lined up outside one of the airstrip set buildings.

We have not yet found reports about rebuilding/dressing of downtown Deming buildings and a look on this page doesn't make many bells ring re: a Moroccan atmosphere. It's also a bit of a snag that many of the atmospheric buildings in Deming are placed on the State Historic Register (four out of sixteen are also on the National Register of Historic Places) and we gather pretty strict regulations apply when it comes to the use of the buildings, not to speak of redressing them.

A search in the online archive of the local Deming paper, The Deming Headlight, produced no relevant hits on keyphrases like "movie production" or "redress building". Interestingly enough, a search on the keyphrase "Indiana Jones" resulted in 3 hits; none of them were reports or news on the movie production going on practically next door.

LATEST PHOTO, FILMING IN NEW MEXICO

Here he is - off the set - as per June 19.

Where he's working right now? In New Mexico. (We assume the town to be Deming, where Las Cruces Sun-News has promised to treat him to an amazing green chili dinner)

UNIVERSAL SET NEWS

Photo: WestCoaster.net
Website TMZ.com has been doing some investigatiing journalism. On June 19, a couple of TMZ staffers took a ride on the Universal Studios Hollywood Tour where they passed an enormous Aztec temple set that tour guides said was being built for the upcoming movie National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

Click on image left to go to HFW Gallery 1 and see five new big size pictures in a series from the set in question.(#05 - #10).

TMZ first called Jerry Bruckheimer Films (production company of National Treasure) and they could tell that the shooting of Book of Secrets wraps next week outside of LA. Then they went on the Universal Studios Hollywood Tour, where they asked the tour guides about the possibility of the set being for Indiana Jones 4 - and drew a blank, or rather "have noe clue" replies.

TMZ finally called Universal Studios Productions, which denied any link to Indiana Jones, saying, "We do not reveal the details of our shooting locations."

We find the reply interesting... we have been under the impression that Indiana Jones 4 is being made by Lucasfilm and Paramount??

We agree with TMZ that the sets could be built as a new attraction for the Universal Studios Hollywood Tour - but if so, why would Universal's people say they never revealed details on shooting locations? We also still fail to understand why Dreamworks' representatives would go to the trouble of pulling the National Treasure story when it would have been far easier to refer to Universal. Why comment on something that is not within your business domain - unless it actually is - one way or another?

Click Here to read TMZ's report and here to see WestCoaster.net's comments to the pictures.

GLOBAL INDY PRODUCTS AND LICENCING PROGRAMS

IndianaJones.com reports that new new Indiana Jones movie adventure will be backed up with a variety of products and licencing programs. Robert Hoffman, president of Lucas Licensing comments: "We are sensing a huge pent-up demand for everything Indy," (We're also pretty sure the calculated revenues help a bit on the desire to soothe -)

On the bandwagon so far (more partners will be announced soon):

Hasbro action figures, vehicles, role play, games
Lego new sets
Hallmark greeting cards, party goods
LucasArts video games, note the plural
Burger King Snakeburgers and bug fries, anyone?

JIM BROADBENT JOINS CAST (?)

According to BritFilms.tv and Ain't It Cool News, British character actor Jim Broadbent has joined the cast of Indiana Jones 4.

In an interview with BritFilms.tv he says:."I'm doing a good cameo in the next 'Indiana Jones', so working with Mr.Spielberg should be an experience. I'm going to Yale - I'm a professor." It was suggested during the interview that he could be the new 'Marcus Brody' character. Broadbent's reply to the suggestion: "That would do for me" (laugh).

In other words: Broadbent being cast as as a Brody successor is speculation only.
Jim Broadbent is a SAG, BAFTA, Goldes Globes and Academy Award winning actor, whose best known works are Little Voice, Bridget Jones' Diary, Moulin Rouge, Iris, The Gathering Storm (TV), Gangs of New York and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

The news is yet not confirmed by Lucasfilm or Paramount, but we sincerely hope it will be since Broadbent would be yet another extremely valuable addition to the platinum Indy 4 cast. In our opinion the choice is also very inspired. Bravo!!!

THE JONES LOOK GETTING INTO PLACE

Photo: Ecorazzi.com

Harrison attended the yearly (and 20th anniversary) Conservation International Fundraiser at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago on Thursday night (June 14), and the dinner raised more than $1 mil to CI's work to protect and restore the diverse ecosystems that sustain life on Earth.

In our opinion he's definitely starting to look Jonesey just a few days before shooting. Credible as a 58 year old who just happens to be our favorite archaeology professor? Our verdict:
Very promising. (We can't wait to see a few moves --)

For your reference; picture right: the same professor 18 years ago. Thanks to Lorrie for the news tip!!

UPDATE RE: DEBUNKED INDY 4 SET PIECE PICS

According to SpielbergFilms.com DreamWorks representatives have confirmed that the pictured sets are "not for "Indiana Jones," rather, they're being constructed for the non-Spielberg, Indiana Jones-lite franchise "National Treasure" for Walt Disney Pictures."

We admit it makes us wonder what other parts of the mentioned franchise is in production at the moment besides National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

We'd love to know.

PS. Why not vote on the issue in our poll? (right column, scroll a little bit)

INDY 4 SET PIECE PICS DEBUNKED

Four pictures in a series from the Universal backlot are presently circulating on the net as pictures from the Indiana Jones 4 set. According to comingsoon.net the pictures are not from the Indy 4 set but from Disney's National Treasure: The Book of Secrets.

On the other hand: we have a bit of difficulty seeing how these obvious, big and very elaborate classic Mesoamerican architecture style set pieces fit an even inventive Jerry Bruckheimer style plot in a movie about the 18 missing pages in the diary of John Wilkes Booth and the "truth" about the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

In other words: are we seeing the effects of a counter rumor designed to stop a leak? Or a creative and unofficial ccoperation between heavyweights in the industry? See the discussion here and here in the HFW Forum.

Time will show.

VERACRUZ UPDATE: FILMING STARTS 2ND WEEK OF JULY

Film commissioner Próspero Rebolledo of the state of Veracruz said in an interview in Coatzacoalcos that Indiana Jones 4 starts filming in Veracruz as of the second week of July. We have reason to believe that Mr Rebolledo refers to Veracruz the state and not just the state capital and port; see lower part of this posting.
Mr. Rebolledo was present at the 5th Rally Malayerba, Make a Short Film in 24 Hours event and also said that the production Fire Bay starring Robert Forster and Kuno Becker helmed by Randall Fried will start shooting in the state the same week. 10 more projects for yet unnamed US producers have been scouted for the last six months. We hope they'll say "Right on, go!" because we have our foot on the accellerator. This reflects the support given the cinema industry by the Governor (Mr. Fidel Herrera), to the benefit of not just Veracruz but the whole country" Mr. Rebolledo added.

We have looked up a bit more on the state of Veracruz and the two following sites look so promising we're considering to make a meal out of our personal fedora should we miss:

Cempoala ("Place of the Twenty Waters", picture top left). The ancient Totonac site is situated just 5 mi / 8 kms from Veracruz on the Río Actopán (NB! Not the same as Veracruz the state capital!)

El Tajín ("Place of Thunder") in the north of the state (picture lower left) is another site of interest (magnificent!!) and should be within reach for the cast and crew if they have a place booked for them in the nearby city of Papantla.

NEW LOCATION REVEALED: DEMING, NEW MEXICO

One of the deserted airstrips outside Deming, NM
According to United Press International and Las Cruces Sun-News, an abondoned airstrip outside Deming, New Mexico has been given the Hollywood treatment. Reason: it's to be passed off as an airstrip in Morocco in Indiana Jones 4. (Click picture left for bigger version) The set includes a building, painted blue with a USAF insignia and the words "Home Of The Fighter Pilot" painted on an outside wall. WWII planes will also be parked in the vincinity. Neither of the news sources can confirm that shooting with the principal actors will take place at the site

We've looked up on USAF airstrips/bases in Morocco in the late 50s. (The base would have to be American since the lettering and symbols on the described building are American.) The USAF had three of them in the country, all dating back to WWII: Sidi Slimane, Nouasseur and Ben Guerir. With Moroccan indepencence in 1956, the USAF was asked to dismantle the bases and leave the country since the bases were then used for B-36s, KC-97s and B-47s carrying muclear arms. The withdrawal began in 1959 and was over in 1963, at which time bases in Spain and the longer ranging B-52 had taken over as the USAFs long range bomber.

We take the liberty to remain open on the issue of New Mexico - an area literally crawling with old airbases and Roswell (about 200 mi/320 kms from Deming) - and the possibility that it is going to be more than just Morocco in the movie.

Click here for a screenshot from Google Earth with some of the NM airstrips plotted in. If you want more speculation you can have a look at this thread in the HFW Forums.

WHO'S OUT AND WHO'S IN

Sir Sean Connery has released the following statement through Paramount Pictures:

Out
I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun.

I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, 'Break a leg, everyone.' I'll see you on May 22, 2008 at the theater!

In
The same press release also announces that John Hurt (The Elephant Man, I Claudius, Alien,1984, V for Vendetta) has joined the cast for Indiana Jones 4

We confess to great sadness over Sir Sean's decision. On the other hand, his very absence may give the high quality Indy 4 cast the push to really show their worth and talent: they have to fill the huge void, make the audiences feel the movie is "right" even if Sir Sean isn't in it.

The addition of John Hurt to the cast is in our opinion a brilliant move and great step in that direction.

VERACRUZ IN OCTOBER??
According to Spanish news agency Terra.es, the Indy 4 cameras may be rolling in the Mexican port of Veracruz in October. (click map left for bigger version). Film commissioner Próspero Rebolledo, the head official for attracting movie business to the state of Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave, indicated in an interview yesterday that negotiations with the Indy 4 producers are underway, that they are scouting and hiring locations in Veracruz and that shooting is set for October.
The scouting in Veracruz seems to have been going on for a while; newspaper El Sol de San Luis reported in June 2006 that shooting would take place in Veracruz and the paper repeated the rumor in a short notice on May 21 ("Hoping for Cortés and Indiana Jones") without giving source or specific dates.

Big thanks to Analía for checking on our understanding of the referred articles.

IF ALL GOES WELL: INDY 4 STARTS SHOOTING NEXT WEEK

Quote George Lucas on May 28th:
A Monaco regular is movie mogul George Lucas, a long-term Formula One fan. 'I caught the racing bug when I was 14 years old - and I have been following Formula One ever since. Probably unusual for an American, but there you go. What fascinates me most is the speed and the accuracy, especially here in Monaco where sometimes centimetres make the difference between do or die. I plan to go to Indianapolis as well - if my schedule permits it, as I start shooting Indiana Jones IV next week. If the production is running as planned you will find me there.'

No, we don't know exactly where - and next week's shooting may very well be e.g second unit work.

ENTER INTO THE HFW CONTESTS!!

HFW member Maria Hallinan Adams came up with the wonderful idea: to run contests every second week from Memorial Day 2007 (May 28) all through to the opening of Indiana Jones 4 on May 22, 2008.

But Maria didn't stop there: she has offered to design and donate all prizes as well as postage & packing to all of the 26 upcoming winners - no matter where on the planet they may live. Now how wonderful is that?!?? Do we hear a world wide cheer for Maria???

Enjoy this part of the HFW celebration of the Indiana Jones Year - and one of the ways you can do so is to join in. click here or use the menu interface in the left column to go to our new contest section.

Also, in case you're dying to read rumors and spoilers about Indiana Jones 4: go to our Indiana Jones 4 page and check out the new feature in the right column (beneath the pic of Indy). When you click on the image, a popup will open and ask if you're sure you want to continue. If you choose to go on a new popup will appear with the latest up to date spoilers - or at least those we've been able to track.

Enjoy, but don't blame us afterwards for any lack of self dicipline

PRESENTED AWARD, LOOKS READY FOR SERIOUS JONES WORK

Harrison presented an award at the 2007 Taurus Stunt Awards in Los Angeles yesterday night. He had the honor to present Gary Powell with a well deserved award (Best Stunt Coordination and/or 2nd Unit Direction) for his work on Casino Royale. Incidentally, Mr. Powell will also work as stunt coordinator on Indiana Jones IV.

This year's Lifetime Achievement Award went to Burt Reynolds for his work on hits like the Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit franchises. Reynolds' award was presented by California Governor (and earlier recipient) Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Read about the awards here and see pictures from the event in the HFW Gallery here.

The awards show will be aired in the US on AMC Friday May 25 at 10.30 p.m.

Judge for yourself - but in our opinion Harrison looks ready and in great shape for some serious Jones work.

HOLD ON TO YOUR POTATOES!!

More info on the filming on the Yale University campus in today's edition of the New Haven Register.

  • The year is 1957. (Indy was born in 1899, that makes him 58 years old)
  • Updated New Haven shooting schedule: June 28 - July 7. No filming on July 4
  • A chase sequence is featured pretty early in the movie; part of the chase is through the university dining hall. Indy's transport is ....a bike.
  • Another chase sequence (transport yet unknown) involves roaring out of a library and doubling back into the old campus, breaking up a political rally on the way

It's official: Indiana Jones will be racing up and/or down Chapel Street in New Haven, Connecticut next month. (click here for map)

According to SpielbergFilms.com and the New Haven Register, shooting will most likely take place in the hometown of Yale University on June 28 and June 30. Pre-production crews are presently working with merchants on Chapel Street to dress up the store fronts 50's style, using photos from the period as guidelines.

TWO OF HARRISON'S MOVIES TOP VES RANKING

The Visual Effects Society has published The VES 50, a list of the - in their opinion - 50 most influential special effects films of all time. Harrison starred in......#1 and #2.

The top ten:

1.   Star Wars (1977)
2.   Blade Runner (1982)
3.   2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
      and The Matrix (1999)
5,   Jurassic Park(1993)
6.   Tron (1982)
7.   King Kong (1933)
8.   Close Encounters of the Third
        Kind
(1977)
9.   Alien (1979)
10. The Abyss (1989)

It's worth noting that The Indy Musketeers (Lucas, Spielberg, Ford) took home five of the top ten. We admit to a raised eyebrow and the paradox of sad glee when we found Peter Jackson / Weta Digital (Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring) as far down as #19 -- two notches behind a little movie called Raiders of the Lost Ark --

When conspiratorial, the following question inevitably pops up: Perhaps Weta doesn't have voting rights and/or Power Circle membership at VES??

Go to VES' homepages to see the full list and this article in The Hollywood Reporter.

I asked Harrison's Office if Harrison could attend the Munich festival (because the festival invited him), but he will have already begun shooting "Indiana Jones 4" by that time and will not be able to make it.

He also will probably not be able to make the Telluride MountainFilm premiere festival screening on May 26 because of prepping for "Indy."

But, his office told me today that he very much supports and believes in the film, and believes that the film has a very positive message and that it will successfully reach and impact many people.

There is a good probability that we will be having a red carpet premiere of the film, and if so, I will let you know about it.

(You can read more about the festival screenings here)

I will continue to keep you updated.

"Dalai Lama Renaissance"

Harrison Ford narrating "Dalai Lama Renaissance"
Harrison has also released the following statement through his office:

"I narrated Dalai Lama Renaissance because I believe His Holiness is making a positive influence in our world. For me, the film represented an opportunity to continue assisting the optimistic efforts of an extraordinary individual.."

SHIA CONFIRMED

IndianaJones.com announces and USA Today follows up on today's official announcement:

Shia LaBeouf is hired for a role in Indiana Jones 4.

The now discreet young actor can't confirm the rumors about him appearing as Indy's son. He says:""I can tell you I'm sort of the sidekick character, obviously," He continues: "I'm sure there are a lot of laughs at my expense, and some kind of creature crawling on me."

The plot and most other things about the movie is also a mystery to the young actor. He was brimming with questions at a recent meeting with Spielberg but George Lucas had just looked at him and had replied 'I can't tell you that,". Furthermore: "Then when he thinks he is supposed to tell you something but isn't sure, he gets up and leaves the room, goes in to talk with Spielberg and comes back and says, 'Nope. Sorry.'"

We can't say we blame los señores for keeping the lid on, but a big congrats to Shia for landing a prestigious job is indeed due.

Thanks to JimB for the news!

CROSSING OVER STARTS ON APRIL 11

The Crossing Over project was also featured by Variety today. Sean Penn will do a cameo as a border patrol agent and Ray Liotta will play a USCIS district adjudicator (bureaucrat). More cast will be added and will be shuttled in and out. Start date is April 11 - yes, in 4 days (!!!!) - according to Variety.

It seems Harrison will play Max Brogan, a seasoned Immigration Customs Enforcement agent who works out of the Los Angeles Immigration Work-Site Enforcement Unit, conducting surveillance and raids.

To flesh out the plot subthemes cited in our news item earlier today (see below): The green card theme appears to involve a young Australian actress who will do whatever it takes to obtain the card - even if it means enduring sexual exploitation by an immigration official. Another subtheme seems to involve the arrest of an illegal Mexican immigrant and her 4 year old son, a third the case of a 15 year old Muslim girl facing the prospect of extradiction whereas her younger U.S born siblings are legally entitled to stay.

The community at this site has received the news with nothing short of elation: typical comments are: Brilliant career move, Fantastic!, Speechless!!!!, JUUUUHUUUUUU!!!! , These are the kind of projects that Harrison should do a lot of from now on and Way to go Harrison!!

Special thanks to NWgal, Max and again Lorrie for contributions, info and sources. Be sure to follow the discussion at our forum: Go to the HFW Forum

Harrison filming another movie before Indiana 4?

According to the LA Times Harrison is involved in Crossing Over which, according to IMDb, is "a multi-character canvas about immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles. The film deals with the border, document fraud, the asylum and green card process, work-site enforcement, naturalization, the office of counter terrorism and the clash of cultures."

The same article says that the movie will also star Sean Penn and Ray Liotta and according to the LA Times "the Weinstein Co. project is nearly devoid of politics and doesn't only look at the hot-button border crossing issues. Instead, it weaves intersecting story lines, from immigrants gaming the system to obtain their green cards to immigration agents just trying to do their jobs while maintaining their humanity." The film is to start filming next week and will have a 50 day shoot (don't fret Indy fans, that is plenty of time for him to do this film and still be available for Indiana 4). Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared) wrote the script and will also direct.

No official word from Harrison's camp on this project but if he is indeed involved count me in as one who can't wait to see this movie. To read more about this go here and a special thanks to Lorrie for the news.

ADDENDUM.... If our research is correct, this project seems to be a full feature development of a 35mm short (running time: 35 mins) on the same theme by the same director. Wayne Kramer first did Crossing Over in 1996. The original short film premiered at the 1996 Santa Barbara Film Festival, was screened at The Palm Beach International Film Festival and WorldFest in Houston the same year. The latter festival awarded the project with a Cerificate of Merit - Finalist. Then KQED picked it up and televised it as part of the series Intensity TV in 2000.

BLANCHETT IS OFFICIAL, STILL WORKING ON CONNERY

Photo by Ken Parnatat /USA Today
USA Today features an interview with George Lucas. Besides training for his participation in the 31st. Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race on April 14 (to the benefit of children's hospitals in southern California), he has one or two things to say about Indy 4: "It wasn't his [Lucas'] idea to cast Cate Blanchett as Ford's new leading lady, he says. "That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director,"

In other words: the hiring of Cate Blanchett to Indy 4 can now be considered official.

Another comment is also of interest: "Sean Connery has yet to sign on as Indiana's father, Dr. Henry Jones, but Lucas says, "We're still trying."
