Christina Applegate, Harrison Ford, Allison Janney, Virginia Madsen and Aidan Quinn will serve as honorary festival chairs for the 2006 Los Angeles Film Festival. Film Independent executive director Dawn Hudson lauded the quintet as embodying "the spirit of what great artists do -- champion both what is daring and diverse within filmmaking." Janney will host the opening-night festivities June 22, while Ford will host the filmmaker reception June 26. Madsen and Quinn will announce narrative and documentary winners at the Spirit of Independence event June 28, and Applegate will host the closing-night festivities July 2.

Last week Harrison attended the AFI salute honoring Sir Sean Connery and besides our own gallery another site has several pictures that are definately worth checking out.

The ceremony will be televised June 21st, 9:00pm on USA Network with a repeat on June 22nd at 12:00am

Lucasfilm has announced plans to release the Star Wars trilogy in their original unaltered version on September 12th.

"This September: Original Unaltered Trilogy on DVD Fans can look forward to a September filled with classic Star Wars nostalgia, led by the premiere of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy video game and the long-awaited DVD release of the original theatrical incarnations of the classic Star Wars trilogy.
In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie, as well as the original theatrical edition of the film. That means you'll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983.
See the title crawl to Star Wars before it was known as Episode IV; see the pioneering, if dated, motion control model work on the attack on the Death Star; groove to Lapti Nek or the Ewok Celebration song like you did when you were a kid; and yes, see Han Solo shoot first.
This release will only be available for a limited time: from September 12th to December 31st. International release will follow on or about the same day."

• Harrison to be honored for Excellence in Arts at the 2006 Tower Award ceremony. This event is part of the Fourth Annual Russian Nights Festival which run April 2-8 in Los Angeles. Harrison will be honored April 8th (Sat) Visit the event website to learn more about this event.
• Starting April 13, Showtime is going to play the Breakthrough of the Year Awards in which Harrison presented an award. The show will air 7:00pm est with repeat airings throughout the month. I'll have up the TV schedule this evening with more times/dates.
