TRANSPORT: Harrison and partner Calista Flockhart caught an unexpected ride after attending the 16th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) Academy Awards Viewing party on Oscar night. When their limo failed to appear and people started crowding them, deputies of the West Hollywood Sheriff Dept. offered a ride in the back seat of their squad car after deeming the situation a necessary "public safety measure". CANNES: Fox News and other news media reported today that representatives of Steven Spielberg and the Cannes Film Festival are in negotiations to bring Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to Cannes, That means Cannes will feature a screening preceding the already announced May 22 world wide opening. As of writing, no official confirmation has yet been issued. This year's Festival takes place May 14 - 25. Happy Europeans?? Wrong, a good number of us just went completely off the scale!!! |

Oscars night is just over, with winners in a mix of safe bets and the unexpected. One of the winners was among the safe bets: Brook Busey-Hunt a.k.a Diablo Cody. She won for her screenplay for Juno and Harrison Ford had the honor of presenting the award. |
Harrison also appeared on Barbara Walters' Oscar Special and we were honestly a bit disappointed since there wasn't much we haven't heard before - but we note his reply to Walters' question on what he would like to be remembered for after this career:"As a good collaborator, as a good partner, and I mean that in all aspects of my life: professional and personal. Javits Convention Center & Showroom Locations in New York City yesterday and the big toy manufacturers display upcoming news - including a good number of the Indiana Jones tie-ins. Hasbro presented pretty detailed info re: their new Indiana Jones 3 3/4" and 12" figures and playsets, which are being rolled out in four waves:

Harrison Presenting at the Oscars
HARRISON PRESENTING AT THE OSCARS |
The list of year's Oscars presenters was announced yesterday and "our" man is among them. We don't (yet) know which category he'll do. May we add that we think it's high time he was at the recipient end of that statue. He's been passed over a couple of times too many -- The ceremonies are due on Sunday Feb 24 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood and will be broadcast on ABC from 8 pm EST/5PT and live in over 200 countries worldwide. PS. Don't forget the interview Barbara Walters will do with Harrison on her Oscar Special on the same channel at 7 pm EST/after the ceremonies broadcast on the West Coast. |

| As of writing it's early morning here at HFW's European office and the undersigned admits to not having slept much... The reason: today is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Trailer Day and the butterflies are having a heyday down the ol'stomach. For our those of you who are night owls or happen to be living in the Eastern hemisphere: rest your eyes on Da Man while waiting those last few incredibly long hours before we get to see the first new Indiana Jones footage in 19 years. |

Steven Spielberg was awarded the Visual Effects Society Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday (Feb 10). According to website Rotten Tomatoes, Spielberg reflected on Crystal Skull and admitted it had hurt to let it go: |

CRYSTAL SKULLDUGGERY| Roughly a week before the long awaited Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer is expected to appear there is a whole lot of skullduggery going on -- on the Net. Website Action Figure Insider opened the ball by publishing a flyer showing upcoming Indiana Jones items keychains from Japanese supplier Takara Neduke on Friday Feb.1. Today, website MovieWeb published a scoop closeup of what they claim is a the crystal skull McGuffin in Indiana Jones 4. Click on images below to enlarge: | |

For the sake of comparison, we took the Drew Struzan teaser poster and insterted the skull picture from MovieWeb just to see how it looked: Click to enlarge Original teaser poster (l.) and teaser poster with MovieWeb skull inserted (r.) Photoshop work by the undersigned We conclude that the similarity is too obvious to be concidental and that traditional skull elongation by binding (& trepanation), general dolichocephaly or Marfan's Syndrome isn't quite enough to explain this somewhat mean lookin' baby. As if the above wasn't enough: Official tie-in supplier OfficialPix announced a new limited edition Indiana Jones 11x14" photo in their blog today - complete with a genuine Harrison Ford signature to be added tomorrow Feb 6 - at the measly sum of USD 459.99.
