"Rhys-Davies was asked about his appearance in the film at a recent Sci-Fi convention in New Zealand. He answered that, through a third party, he was told his character was written out of the script in favor of "a younger cast." |

Shia confirmed
SHIA CONFIRMED![]() |
IndianaJones.com announces and USA Today follows up on today's official announcement: Shia LaBeouf is hired for a role in Indiana Jones 4. The now discreet young actor can't confirm the rumors about him appearing as Indy's son. He says:""I can tell you I'm sort of the sidekick character, obviously," He continues: "I'm sure there are a lot of laughs at my expense, and some kind of creature crawling on me." |
The plot and most other things about the movie is also a mystery to the young actor. He was brimming with questions at a recent meeting with Spielberg but George Lucas had just looked at him and had replied 'I can't tell you that,". Furthermore: "Then when he thinks he is supposed to tell you something but isn't sure, he gets up and leaves the room, goes in to talk with Spielberg and comes back and says, 'Nope. Sorry.'"
We can't say we blame los señores for keeping the lid on, but a big congrats to Shia for landing a prestigious job is indeed due.
Thanks to JimB for the news!

Crossing Over 1st roundup
CROSSING OVER STARTS ON APRIL 11The Crossing Over project was also featured by Variety today. Sean Penn will do a cameo as a border patrol agent and Ray Liotta will play a USCIS district adjudicator (bureaucrat). More cast will be added and will be shuttled in and out. Start date is April 11 - yes, in 4 days (!!!!) - according to Variety.
It seems Harrison will play Max Brogan, a seasoned Immigration Customs Enforcement agent who works out of the Los Angeles Immigration Work-Site Enforcement Unit, conducting surveillance and raids.
To flesh out the plot subthemes cited in our news item earlier today (see below): The green card theme appears to involve a young Australian actress who will do whatever it takes to obtain the card - even if it means enduring sexual exploitation by an immigration official. Another subtheme seems to involve the arrest of an illegal Mexican immigrant and her 4 year old son, a third the case of a 15 year old Muslim girl facing the prospect of extradiction whereas her younger U.S born siblings are legally entitled to stay.
The community at this site has received the news with nothing short of elation: typical comments are: Brilliant career move, Fantastic!, Speechless!!!!, JUUUUHUUUUUU!!!! , These are the kind of projects that Harrison should do a lot of from now on and Way to go Harrison!!
Special thanks to NWgal, Max and again Lorrie for contributions, info and sources. Be sure to follow the discussion at our forum: Go to the HFW Forum

Harrison filming another movie before Indiana 4?
Harrison filming another movie before Indiana 4? According to the LA Times Harrison is involved in Crossing Over which, according to IMDb, is "a multi-character canvas about immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles. The film deals with the border, document fraud, the asylum and green card process, work-site enforcement, naturalization, the office of counter terrorism and the clash of cultures." The same article says that the movie will also star Sean Penn and Ray Liotta and according to the LA Times "the Weinstein Co. project is nearly devoid of politics and doesn't only look at the hot-button border crossing issues. Instead, it weaves intersecting story lines, from immigrants gaming the system to obtain their green cards to immigration agents just trying to do their jobs while maintaining their humanity." The film is to start filming next week and will have a 50 day shoot (don't fret Indy fans, that is plenty of time for him to do this film and still be available for Indiana 4). Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared) wrote the script and will also direct. No official word from Harrison's camp on this project but if he is indeed involved count me in as one who can't wait to see this movie. To read more about this go here and a special thanks to Lorrie for the news.ADDENDUM.... If our research is correct, this project seems to be a full feature development of a 35mm short (running time: 35 mins) on the same theme by the same director. Wayne Kramer first did Crossing Over in 1996. The original short film premiered at the 1996 Santa Barbara Film Festival, was screened at The Palm Beach International Film Festival and WorldFest in Houston the same year. The latter festival awarded the project with a Cerificate of Merit - Finalist. Then KQED picked it up and televised it as part of the series Intensity TV in 2000.

Consider Blanchett official
BLANCHETT IS OFFICIAL, STILL WORKING ON CONNERY![]() Photo by Ken Parnatat /USA Today |
USA Today features an interview with George Lucas. Besides training for his participation in the 31st. Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race on April 14 (to the benefit of children's hospitals in southern California), he has one or two things to say about Indy 4: "It wasn't his [Lucas'] idea to cast Cate Blanchett as Ford's new leading lady, he says. "That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director," |
In other words: the hiring of Cate Blanchett to Indy 4 can now be considered official.
Another comment is also of interest: "Sean Connery has yet to sign on as Indiana's father, Dr. Henry Jones, but Lucas says, "We're still trying."
