Things to do at Oscars Time

THINGS TO DO DURING THE OSCARS

Harrison wasn't physically present at at the 2007 Oscars, but he was sort of there - in a potential and virtual capacity. His and Sandra Bullock's tribute to those seldom in the spotlight was cut from the telecast; a pretty peculiar decision by the producers - who may find dresses more interesting than TV ratings and audience tallies.

You don't have to miss their piece: just glance left (this page) and hit the picture to see what you didn't get to see. You can also see and download the video from podtech.net or the HFW Sound and Vision Gallery. The downloaded file is best played with e.g Quicktime Player or Democracy Player.

Now exactly where was "our" man?

Seems he spent the weekend in Las Vegas, ringside at the boxing- martial arts Pride33 event. Furthermore he wasn't the only Tinseltown high profiler there. We spotted Nicholas Cage and Chuck Norris in the audience as well. We also believe Harrison was accompanied by his son, Willard Ford.

See the reports and pictures in the HFW Forum.

Indiana Jones son?

INDIANA JONES CASTING RUMOR #3041

In the past there has been numerous rumors associated with Indiana Jones 4 - Remember the Lucy Liu casting a couple of years ago and the still persistent rumor of Natalie Portman being cast? Well here is another one for you and this time two major movie news sites have reliable sources confirming this one.

According to Drew from Aint it Cool news - article here - Shia La Beouf (Constantine, I, Robot) has been cast as Indiana Jones' son. Devin Faraci from CHUD has also confirmed this rumor - read here.

Only time will tell if this latest rumor is true or not or if a dozen more casting rumors pop up in the next few weeks. Should this last rumor be true and they follow the storyline in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series, it opens for some pretty interesting consequences:

Indiana Jones must have fathered two children - since the TV series shows old Indy speaking to his grandchildren and they are clearly stated to be the offspring of his daughter.

Manhunt Update, Adversaries & Trivia

MANHUNT UPDATE

If Ecuadorian movie blog Cinerama and newspaper El Universo were right in November 2006, the project was then pretty paralyzed due to discord over shooting locations. According to the El Universo article, Harrison preferred shooting in the United States, whereas the producers wanted to shoot in Romania to cut costs. Apparently Harrison and director Sebastián Cordero put the project on "wait" and went on to other things.

The script has been worked on since and a recent IMDb update now lists the movie as "in production" with opening set to 2009 and no changes re: director or cast. Worth noticing is that the scriptwriters list now contains the name Andrew W. Marlowe ("Air Force One"). Mike Rich ("Finding Forrester", The Rookie") was on board from the outstart of the project.

The addition of Marlowe tells us somebody's been flexing muscle.

Hoping that the project is out of deadwater, we'll will be posting more as soon as we know more. A good place to check is always the Manhunt section of the HFW Forum and our Manhunt page.

NEW SECTION - AND A REVIVED ONE

We've added a new section: Leading Adversaries and breathed life into an old favorite: Trivia. Why not have a look at the toughies Harrison's had to handle on the screen or try your wits at one of our quizzes?

Update on documentary Dalai Lama Renaissance

UPDATE ON DOCUMENTARY "DALAI LAMA RENAISSANCE"

We got the following message from the director/producer yesterday:

Hi Everyone,

My name is Khashyar Darvich, the Producer-Director of "Dalai Lama Renaissance," the documentary film featuring the Dalai Lama that is narrated by Harrison Ford.

I wanted to post an update for you on the film.

The documentary is in the last stages of editing, and should be finished by the second half of this year. It will probably be about 90 minute long when editing is completed.

Harrison was very gracious in giving his narration to the project, and was down-to-earth and generous at the narration recording session. He generously gave us 10 takes of each narration line, so that we could have the very best to choose from.

We will be posting news releases about the latest news about "Dalai Lama Renaissance" on the film's website (www.DalaiLamaFilm.com ), and I will also try to post updated on the Harrison Ford Web website. The film is also now listed on the (IMDB website)

From having worked briefly with Harrison on this project, I can also add that he is a very down-to-earth person, who gives his time to things he believes in.

Thank you,

Khashyar Darvich
Producer-Director
"Dalai Lama Renaissance" documentary

We strongly suggest you bookmark the links above. Big thanks to Kashyar for the update & information!

Indy 4 News & Rumor

INDY 4 CINEMATOGRAPHER ON BOARD

Cinematographer is chosen for Indiana Jones 4, and this important job goes to the lauded Janusz Kaminski, a steady preference on Steven Spielberg's projects. Kaminski has two Oscars under his belt (for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List) and a number of other prestigious wins and nominations. It takes a quite a man to replace the late Douglas Slocombe and we believe the team has found exactly the right man.

CGI WHIP??

To be taken with more than one grain of salt, but here we go since it's on everybody's lips: The Unsubstantiated Rumor of the Week:
The less serious part of the British press has run hot his week with the rumor that Indiana Jones won't be allowed to crack his whip for real in the new movie and that the cracking action would be substituted with computer graphics - due to "new film safety rules". The same rumor also says that Harrison has called this "ridiculous" and that he's threatened to back out of the project if he isn't allowed to do his stuff.

If there's just the tiniest trace of truth in this we can't but agree with him. We even think "ridiculous" is way too polite. Read about it - and our visitors' opinion in the HFW forum.
