Just a reminder that I will have up my review of the book "Harrison Ford: The Films" shortly. To say the least, I was overwhelmed at the wealth of information and if you are a fan of Harrison's career, this book needs to be in your collection. More later. |

Special thanks to Lee Demarbre who was kind enough to provide the promotional poster (scroll down to the bottom of this article and click on picture to view larger size.)"If you live or are near the city of Ottawa Canada here is a screening you might want to check out. The Star Wars Holiday Special (originally aired on CBS November 17th, 1978) will be screened on Sunday, March 27th at 8:00pm at Zaphods Beeblebrox (27 York St.)
If that were not enough to ge you interested, Zaphods will also be showing The Donnie and Marie Star Wars Special (featuring tap-dancing Stoomtroopers), and PRIZES! Join us for the final Ottawa public screening of the now legendary and soon-to-be-banned bit of Lucas lunacy.
Want to know what George Lucas thought of this special? Let's just say he would like to ban it never to be seen again.
Here is an exerpt from The Ottawa Start: The Star Wars Holiday Special is George Lucas' first sequel to his 1977 classic. It was only screened once, at 8:00 PM on Friday, November 17th, 1978. It was never aired again; it was never released in theatres or released to home video - EVER! And now the creator of the Star Wars franchise is trying to have this lost bit of Star Wars lunacy banned forever!
Described as "the red-headed step child of the Star Wars family," a source at LUCASFILM describes, "The Holiday Special was the biggest f***-up ever ... the Force was definitely not with Mr Lucas the day that doozy was born."
Our story begins as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo battle evil Imperial forces to help Chewbacca reach his imperiled family on the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk. Chewbacca wants to return home in time for Life Day, the most important day of the year! However Imperial forces arrive at Chewbacca's home first, and terrorize Chewbacca's wife Malla, his Dad Itchy and son Lumpy. "We are not making this up," says programmer Lee Demarbre, "it has to been seen to be believed!"
All the superstars of the original Star Wars film return - Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, and even James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. Special guest stars include Bea Arthur, Art Carney and Harvey Korman in three unbelievable roles! Musical guests include Diahann Carroll and the Jefferson Starship. Need we say more?!"
