DEAUVILLE, France - Accepting an award for his work at the Deauville film festival on Tuesday, Harrison Ford remembered a fateful decision he made as a young man in Wisconsin. To decide whether to try his luck in New York or Los Angeles, he flipped a coin.
"It came up New York, so I made it two out of three," Ford said, asked about his choice. "My luck has held since then."
During the homage, a screen flashed with highlights from Ford's screen roles. As Han Solo, Indiana Jones, or the Fugitive, he punched the bad guys and kissed his leading ladies.
"When I look at the reel, I realize how lucky I have been to work with such talented people and spend my life doing something I love," Ford told the crowd before the screening of his new film, "K-19: The Widowmaker."
A few moments earlier, Ford had emerged from his limo with Calista Flockhart, and the two signed autographs for fans who lined up along the red carpet outside the theater. Flockhart, wearing a black strapless gown, told the crowd she was "really happy to be here." The two walked into the theater together hand in hand.
